SAP Screen Personas – Getting Started

SAP屏幕角色可以提高用户支持ductivity by personalizing your SAP Dynpro transactions and Web Dynpro applications in ECC, Business Suite on HANA, and SAP S/4HANA. You can simplify screens by removing fields you don’t use, converting free text entry to pull-down menus, and automating recurring keystrokes.

By providing the right information to the right users in the right context, they can get more done in less time with greater accuracy. With more intuitive SAP screens, organizations can enhance user satisfaction, minimize training time, and spend less money on screen modifications. SAP Screen Personas is one of several ways to improve SAP usability and the overall user experience.

So if I am security, and each area has personas screens..... and someone ask me to setup a new person with the following buttons.....how do I figure out which transactions they are talking about, if everyone can have a customized screen?

This feels like web presenting pages, which makes Security's job harder, since the traditional security tools and tracing.... don't work with web presenting pages, probably are not going to work with these new features either......

In the backend system, the standard ABAP transactions are still being executed, and standard security still applies. Personas is just giving them a new skin.

You can, if allowed, switch from the personas view to the standard view, making it easy see which transaction is behind the personas screen.

      Does that help?

      Hi Helen,

Let me build on Steve's comment.

First, the paradigm of SAP Screen Personas is that each "flavor" is based on an underlying SAP transaction screen. So, the SAP Screen Personas flavors inherit the security settings from the back end for each transaction. If I cannot view transaction SU01 in my SAP GUI, I will not be able to view this transaction through SAP Screen Personas either, even if someone adds a launch button to go there. I will just see a "not authorized" message, just as if I had typed /nSU01 into the OK code field.

In addition, you can control which users see which flavors. This provides a more granular way to roll out SAP functionality, especially if you tailor the information on each screen to the specific needs of that role.

      Hope this helps.

      Regards,

      Peter

      Hello,

I'm implementing SAP Screen Personas 2.0, personally i think it's a good tool. I think that SAP have to add others components(like a grid) and more properties for actual components.

Currently I have a bit problem , i need redirec back button(F3) or disable back button back(F3). this is possible?

      Hi,

What are the Roles a user must have to access create, add , edit flavors in Personas.

I have and R/3 where personas is installed. but I am not aware of the roles my user must have to perform screen personalization.

The roles are described in the configuration guide. As a Personas developer you'll most likely need the "ADMIN_ROLE" role. Note that Personas roles are set in the Personas admin transaction (/PERSOS/ADMIN_UI), and are not standard SAP roles set in PFCG.

      Hi ,

I have integrated SAP personas in CRM WEBIC via URL based transaction launcher.

However when the SAP personas transaction is opened on WEBIC, and when i type /O in command button, it opens a new pop-up window.

Is there any way to restrict it.

      Hello,

We are just installing the right Version of SAP Netweaver 7.42 (SP08) and wish to install SAP Screen Personas 3.0.

My question: Will Sap Screen Personas work in the ight way, if we use an ERP SystemECC 6.0 EHP5 asApplication for SAP Screen Personas 3.0 to communicate with?
I found the SAP note 1914952, which refers to an other SAP note with title "EHP7 for ECC 6.0SP Stacks" but it is not clear for me whether EHP7 is needed for communication with SAP Screen Personas 3.0 or not.

Thanks in advance and best regards

      Hi Adrian,

SAP Screen Personas 3.0 requires a 740 basis, it is independent of the used applications. However, please have a look athttp://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1496212(EHP6 for SAP ERP 6.0 SP stacks - Release & Information Note), it lists all supported Netweaver Basis versions. NW 7.40 is not in the list, so it is not supported. So, neither Ehp5 nor Ehp6 are supported on basis 740, the lowest EhP that is supported on 740 is EhP7.

As result, at the moment, you can only personalize ERP screens in EHP7.

      Cheers,

      Tobias.

If we go with SAP Personas 2.0 now, is there an upgrade strategy needed for us to move from Personas 2.0 to 3.0. Any details on the upgrade in that case?

      Thank you.

      Author's profile photo Peter Spielvogel

The upgrade from version 2 to version 3 is very simple. The migration is built into version 3. You just select the flavors you want to migrate from the Admin UI, click, and it's done. Usually, this is all that is required if the flavors you build use the standard functionality and nothing to bypass what is built into the product.

Looking forward to more on the coverage on Screen Personas and HANA and how they are linked. Will we have to have HANA to go with the personas later with S/4 HANA?

We dont intend to go the HANA path atleast for another 2 yrs. That said, knowing the dependencies will help as we want to use Fiori and Personas as much as we can until decision on HANA is made.

Supposedly, Personas is installed in the S/4 HANA on-premise edition trial:http://scn.sap.com/community/s4hana/blog/2015/07/28/sap-s4hana-on-premise-edition-trial-available-now

Perhaps you can give that a shot and see if it works for you.

Other than that, there was already talk to eventually set up a SAP CAL / AWS-based IDES environment (similar to the openSAP course) with Personas 3.0 and 2.0 both installed and configured, but at the current time there is no decision made whether this will be offered or not.

I wonder how much demand would be there for such a solution...

is there a guide available to assist with setting up SSO(Single Sign On) for Personas?

Ideally it would use SNC to authenticate against active directory in a similar fashion as our sap gui does or piggy back off the already authenticated session by clicking on a url in the sapgui menu.

I assigned only consumer role '/PERSONAS/CONSUMER_ROLE' to some user 'ABC' but when i login with same user 'ABC" i am getting access to create flavour/themes. It was supposed to only Display/Apply flavours .

And also if i remove SAP_ALL profile from user master record, not able to see Personas icon in top of browser.

If your user has SAP_ALL authorization, then it will have access to all Personas features, including creating flavors and themes.

If you assigned /PERSONAS/CONSUMER_ROLE to the user but the same user has no Personas access at all after removing SAP_ALL, this means that the role /PERSONAS/CONSUMER_ROLE is missing a generated authorization profile. This step was missed when the Personas add-on was installed. It can be taken care of in transaction PFCG.

Currently, we are on Personas 3 SP3. Kernel 722 Patch 101. We are on ECC 6 EHP 5.

We are planning to go to Suite on Hana in Q1 and then sometimes by end of next year, we plan to go on S/4 Hana. Now, we have option to either go on EHP7 or EHP8.

How would Personas 3 work on EHP7 Vs EHP8? Is there a document to explain this? I would appreciate if you could provide some insight into this.

PPM is based on Web Dynpro rendering.
